An easy way to change your mindset from negative to positive is reframing.  Say that you’re dreading going to a party because you have social anxiety.  You picture yourself at the party not knowing what to say or do.

Now, reframe the issue in a positive light.  It’s a party!  There will be people there that will be glad to see you.  Its good for your mental health to be out and about. If things get to be too much, you can retreat to a quiet space.

So you’re taking an issue that you have negative feelings about and turning it on its ear (reframing) so that it’s a positive issue.

Let’s try another example.

I have a number of errands to run and I don’t like driving around.  Reframing: While running my errands, I could stop someplace that I like and look around.

Find a way to put a positive spin on your thoughts and feelings and you’ll be much happier.

One more example.  You are applying for disability and you’re drowning in paperwork.  Remind yourself that you don’t have to do it all in one sitting.  Break it into chunks.
